In this talk Prof. Headleand will explain what student engagement is, and provide some practical guidance on how to scaffold practice to encourage various forms of engagement in your teaching and learning practice.
This training is open to all UM postgraduate students, especially for those who are hired as Teaching Assistants and are required to complete the training before providing any ancillary teaching at the University of Macau.
In this half-day event, we will explore ways for teachers and students to work together and share strategies that promote student-centred education by enhancing UM students' learning experience through IBL tasks and activities.
This training provides new faculty members with a general introduction to teaching and learning in the UM context. The training aims to enhance colleagues’ teaching skills, with which colleagues will be able to facilitate more effective teaching and learning at UM. This training will cover topics such as principles of learning, university policies related to T&L, fundamental concepts of course design and e-learning tools including UMMoodle (UM's learning management system) and Zoom (video-conferencing tool used at UM).

The main aim of this workshop is to explore the complexity and contested nature of the research-teaching nexus, and to provide participants with effective strategies to engage students in research-based learning during their undergraduate study.
