Course assessments can be much more than just a ranking mechanism of your students’ performance. In this session, we will discuss some approaches for tapping into the full potential of assessments. These approaches, coupled with meaningful feedback, can provide useful insight for both the teacher and students on their teaching and learning journey.

Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the formative and summative purposes of assessments in higher education;
  • Align and map learning goals/outcomes to assessment tasks for your course; and,
  • Create different feedback opportunities to engage students in learning.
