Call for Proposals

The Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement (CTLE) would like to invite UM colleagues to submit proposals for presentations on assessment redesign strategies.

In the current educational landscape, the pervasive use of generative AI tools has transformed how students access and produce information. This extensive adoption has sparked concerns about the reliability of traditional assessment methods, as many are now likely compromised by these advanced technologies.

To address these challenges, CTLE will hold two Faculty Conversation events on assessment redesign in Autumn 2025, one for Humanities and Social Sciences, and one for STEM. These events aim to provide a collaborative forum where educators can share their insights and best practices.

What you could share

We are looking for faculty members who have successfully implemented assessment strategies that align with any of the following foci:

  • Process over product: prioritizing assessment strategies that focus on the learning process rather than the final product
  • Assessments that are more authentic, engaging and enhancing student learning
  • Metacognitive skills: activities that help students reflect on how they learn and evaluate their own progress, etc.
  • Innovative ways to use AI tools as part of the assessment process
  • Simple tweaks that made traditional assessments more “AI-proof”

Sharing formats:

  • Short talk (15–20 minutes)
  • Quick demonstration (10 minutes)
  • Conversation starters (5-minute intro followed by small group conversations)

Submit your idea by email:

The proposal will outline an assessment strategy, its implementation, plus the impact on student learning.

Proposal length: 200–300 words

Submission: please send your proposal to chrisfulton@um.edu.mo

Submission deadline: 1 July 2025

CTLE will notify successful proposals by: 15 July 2025
