Project Description
Zoom Video Conferencing
The University of Macau has purchased a campus license for Zoom, an online video conferencing service. Zoom is a leading, cloud-based platform for video conferencing and simple online meetings. This web-based conferencing service uses high-quality video and audio and is accessible on Windows and Mac OS X, as well as iOS and Android mobile phones. Joining a Zoom meeting on your computer or mobile device is as easy as clicking on a URL.
Academic staff will be granted a Licensed Zoom account for the Fall semester by ICTO. The license allows for meetings with up to 300 participants and for an unlimited duration. For more information on this service, contact the ICTO Help Desk at 8822-8600.
All that is required is a computer equipped with a camera and audio system, which are standard on most laptops. Inexpensive cameras and microphones can be purchased and used with desktop computers. The Zoom system allows the instructor to share their screen or a presentation, use a whiteboard, view and comment on the work of students, use the chat function to communicate individually or with the group, or hold a webinar.
Enhance Engagement and Learning Using Zoom
Video based web connections can be used to enhance communication and a create motivating class environment. Zoom is a tool that can be used for web-based real-time tutorials, virtual office hours and learning beyond the classroom.
Real-time visual connections via the web can have positive impacts on student learning. Zoom can help faculty create educational connections between students and communities of learners without requiring students to be in the classroom or even on campus.
In addition, Zoom makes it possible to simultaneous connect and interact with classes at other universities to jointly teach a course of course module.
