On 20 October, CTLE hosted an engaging workshop led by Prof. Raoul Mulder from the University of Melbourne. About 60 UM academic colleagues joined the event.
The session, ‘Resilient Assessment in the Age of Generative AI: Designing for Integrity, Process, and Cognitive Growth’, provided opportunities for participants to explore innovative strategies for redesigning assessments to maintain integrity while embracing AI’s role in education.
Prof. Mulder emphasized creating authentic, equitable and future-focused assessments that prioritize cognitive growth and process over mere product evaluation. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, reimagining assessment tasks to ensure learning visibility and student engagement.
Drawing on evidence-based pedagogy, Prof. Mulder shared practical examples and insights from his dual expertise in higher education and ecology, sparking meaningful discussions on navigating the challenges and opportunities brought about by AI in education.
Presentation slides and video are available on our website.
