In this facilitated panel discussion, four faculty members from mainland universities will discuss their own practices in exploring innovative evaluation or assessment approaches to measuring students’ learning and development in student-centered learning or project-based learning. Three professors come from Southwest Jiaotong University (西南交通大学), Sichuan, China.

  • Prof. Hongling Guo will present a case studies on student-participating learning evaluation in courses on Introduction to Public Policy;
  • Prof. Ping Xiao will share her experience in rotating evaluation approaches, in which her students keep changing roles in group work, thus promoting their sense of responsibility;
  • Prof. Yongchun Guo will introduce his development of a mathematical approaches to assess the inter-active effect of teaching and learning in a teaching environment.

This interactive session will provide insights for measuring the un-measurable in non-traditional teaching.  The session invites participants from other universities to join us in this timely discussion by sharing their experiences from their teaching and institutions.
