One of the challenges in education lies in how we measure and collect outcomes. In quantitative approach, there are basically two categories of outcomes that educators attempts to collect: 1) tangible (e.g. number of attendance per unit time) and 2) intangible (e.g. attitudes scores). In this workshop, the speakers will be shared their works on how they collect and measures students’ performances under the residential college system of the University of Macau.

Tony Chan, a Chartered Statistician (CStat) of the Royal Statistical Society (UK) with more than 15 years of teaching experience in statistics on healthcare. He initially trained as a statistician and specialized in epidemiology, and biostatistics. Following a PhD in health care, he moved into research examining patients’ view of healthcare and health service effectiveness. He is the Associate Master of the Lui Che Woo College of the University of Macau (UM) and Adjunct Associate Professor of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Sociology of the UM. Much of his work focuses on statistical modeling, education and organizational management.
