DESCRIPTION:News RecapOnline video lectures & assignments: \n\n5 September – 19 September 2023\n\nSalon: \n\n27 September\, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM (to be held online via Zoom)\n\nEligible TAs must register with their Faculty Office. \nThis Fall 2023 CTLE will continue to sponsor the Teaching Assistant Online Training that introduces core skills for graduate students that are involved in teaching and may go on to work in academic institutions in a teaching or an instructional capacity. This training is open to all UM postgraduate students\, especially for those who are hired as Teaching Assistants and are required to complete the training before providing any ancillary teaching at the University of Macau. \nThere will be six online sessions in total and typically\, each session will have a topic to focus on. To complete the series with a certificate\, individuals need to participate all six sessions (each session contains video lectures and a related Moodle quiz/assignment) AND attend the half-day online Salon (where TAs will meet-up and exchange with invited faculty and student speakers on the various topics covered in the training) which will take place on 27 September 2023. Registration via your Faculty/Institute. \n澳門大學教與學優化中心於2023/2024學年的上學期繼續舉行大學助教在線培訓，培訓將介紹一系列於應用在教學上的核心技能，對現任大學助教或正在學術機構工作的研究生、準備投身教學事業的準畢業生都有很大的幫助。 \n大學助教培訓共有六節課涵蓋六個不同主題。完成六節課的教學視頻及全部UMMoodle小測/作業並出席在線沙龍的參加者將獲得由本中心發出的參與證書。參與培訓費用全免，有興趣的澳大研究生(包括合資格的準助教人員)必須透過所屬學院及研究所報名參加。

Through sharing of research findings and practices\, this half-day event seeks to explore implications of AI in education and how AI can be effectively integrated into classrooms and online learning platforms. It will also shed light on how sound policies can mitigate these issues while maximizing AI’s educational benefits.\nstimulate dialogue on the integration of AI in education and offers strategies for managing this transition effectively.\n\n11:35 – 11:40 Group photo \n11:40 – 12:20 Faculty Panel with Prof. Derek Wong (FST)\, Prof. Frank Gong (FED)\, Mr. Kerrin Burnell (FAH-ELC)\, moderated by CTLE Staff\n12:20 – 12:50 Technology Session: AI tools for teaching and assessment\nBio of speaker: \n \nProf. Cecilia Chan is a Professor in the Faculty of Education and Director of Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). She has a dual-discipline background with expertise in both engineering and education. She plays a key role in enhancing engineering and science education\, as well as teaching and learning in higher education. Her combined expertise in these fields have enabled her to lead and conduct research on topics such as assessment and feedback\, experiential learning\, technology-enhanced learning particularly artificial intelligence in education\, and the development and assessment of 21st century skills (holistic competencies) from East to West. \nProf. Chan has been invited as a keynote speaker and panel speaker at many international conferences\, including the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She holds a PhD in Engineering from Trinity College\, and a postgraduate diploma and MA in Higher Education. She also holds a Fellowship from King’s College London and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Prof. Chan is involved in over 40 research projects. She received the HKU Young Outstanding Researcher Award in 2014-15 and the Faculty Knowledge Exchange award. She is the President of the Asian Society for Engineering Education and associate editor for both the Journal of Engineering Education and Studies in Educational Evaluation. \nProf. Chan has developed student-centred frameworks\, instruments\, and practical approaches to promote competencies development\, and is a pioneer in the investigation of competencies assessment literacy. Her work is being employed around the world and also being adopted by software companies.
