Highlights of A Large Scale, Blended-Learning Writing Course

On November 9, 2016 Dr. Nigel Huckstep from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology presented “A Large Scale: Blended Learning Writing Course”. In this hands-on session, Dr. Huckstep introduced HKUST’s large-scale programme of writing workshops that use a blended learning environment. The writing workshops are part of a compulsory course in the Humanities taken by first year students as part of the Common Core curriculum. Dr. Huckstep presented how a blended learning approach was used to improve student’s experience of learning how to write in the context of their university education and explained how the blended learning approach allowed students in a large class of (800 students) to receive individual and peer help in English writing.
